Morning View

Why is Nietzsche so cute?

The Princess of Tennis
I must admit that it feels rather strange to be hearing the characters' voices in Date A Live - Rinne Utopia, as I haven't watched the anime adaptation. The game is like a bad case of déjà vu for me. Go ahead, spoil yourselves and enjoy the game CG. The quality might not be the greatest but it's a lot more complete than what you'd find elsewhere (for now). There isn't much to spoil anyway in my unprofessional opinion, the story is about as subtle as a spacequake. Although the appearance of Phantom further hints at some convoluted plan that will probably come to fruition in future volumes.

This place will be where minor updates of Date A Live go for now, so that everything will be centralized instead of scattering across multiple posts. Someone needs to take over.

Since this post was originally about the game, I will talk about the Rinne Utopia Perfect Visual Guide for a bit. Although to be honest, the only thing that really matters in the whole book is the in-ter-view with the oddly named Tachibana Koushi and the panda-loving Tsunako, which I'm quite sure is in fact a condensed version of the Dengeki PlayStation interview they did earlier this year.

Apparently Kurumi was the first Date A Live character to be created, as the idea of a Gothic lolita with asymmetric twintails and a clock face eye had been inside the author's head ever since his kounibyou days. That sure explains a lot about Kurumi's characterization. While Tohka is considered the main heroine who has always been given sufficient screen time in each volume, Kotori might have had a shot at being the main girl if she didn't have two different personality modes. Tachibana seems to really enjoy writing Origami's eccentric behaviours. He also tends to go overboard with her scenes, and always have to revise them many times before the final draft. The Yamai sisters are the most difficult characters to write apparently due to Yuzuru's speech pattern. Tsunako on the other hand finds the poker face Origami quite hard to draw. For the illustrator, Yoshino is the easiest to draw and Kurumi is the one worth drawing the most. Both Tachibana and Tsunako like Shiori.

Those are just a few things that I noted throughout the interview, but of course there's much more to it. Still, too much trivial information and there's even more on the way about the heroines. Starting with Tohka, her favourite food is soya flour bread, and she dislikes AST and injections. Origami likes Shidou and dislikes Spirits. Yoshino likes cute hats and Yoshinon. She dislikes violence and being hurt. Kurumi is an animal lover and a misanthrope (or is she?). If it weren't obvious enough, Kotori has a thing for lollipops. She doesn't like scary stories though. Rinne, being who and what she is, enjoys looking after Shidou and has no dislike for anything in particular. There are also Ruler and the rest of the cast, but their profiles are short and lacking in anything remotely interesting.

Not sure if anyone really cares but here are the scans of Date A Live Encore illustrations in higher resolution and arguably better quality. Nothing to nipah about.

Run desire run.

    1. Sorry but I never bothered debinding or scanning Rinne Bathtime. I'm also some 1000 km away from my house so I don't have access to any of my books at the moment.
